Kickass Kickoff for Future of Music Policy Summit!

It's on.
Musicians, artist advocates, policymakers, journalists, technologists and industry reps have descended upon the lovely Georgetown University campus in Washington, DC for the 2009 Future of Music Policy Summit.
It's been INCREDIBLE so far. We've heard a kickass keynote from Senator Al Franken, who then sat down for a rather moving chat with Mike Mills of R.E.M. FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski got "played onstage" by New Orleans brass band Bonerama before his stellar keynote.
Check out these early reports from Chicago Tribune's Greg Kot, and Daily Finance's Sam Gustin.
We heard from artists like Erin McKeown and label owners like Mac McCaughan of Merge Records; witnessed feisty back and forth about the internet and copyright, and even went to a rock show!
There's even more excitement lined up for tomorrow. But if you couldn't make it to DC -- have no fear: you can check out an interactive webcast of Policy Summit right here.
And don't forget about the liveblog and hot Twitter action (hashtag: #FMC09)!
More tomorrow!
