Washington, D.C.— Future of Music Coalition brings its acclaimed Policy Summit Gaston Hall to Georgetown University in Washington D.C. on October 4-6, 2009.
It’s been nearly a decade since the digital music genie burst out of its bottle, changing the game for virtually everyone in the music ecosystem. Since then, Future of Music Coalition has organized dozens of events – including seven Policy Summits – that have provided an important annual forum where key stakeholders dissect the challenges and opportunities facing creators and fans in a rapidly-evolving music world.
Policy Summit 2009 continues this tradition, bringing a spectacular mix of technologists, attorneys, musicians, managers and industry leaders together for thought-provoking conversations about the future of music and the artists who will shape it.
Programming at Policy Summit 2009 will include practical, musician-focused workshops, keynotes from leading artists, managers and policymakers and inspired panel discussions with the sharpest minds in the music/technology space. New this year, the event will feature unique presentations from a select group of visionary musicians, managers, policymakers and entrepreneurs about the future of the music/tech economy.
Attendees of Policy Summit 2009 will experience a compelling multimedia event covering a broad range of issues.
“In the last ten years, there have been profound changes that have impacted the entire music community,” says FMC Policy Director, Michael Bracy, who has participated in all of FMC’s Policy Summits. “Now is also the perfect time to look forward, and this October, we’re going to ask some big questions. How are leadership changes in Washington impacting the increasingly connected worlds of technology and intellectual property? What role should government play in shaping cultural policy? How are artists leading the way towards positive social change through informed activism?”
Summit 2009 will address these questions and more through panel discussions, special conversations and individual presentations. The event will also be highly interactive, with tech-centric networking, meet-and-greets, cocktail parties and a live music event.
