Kick-off forum in Buffalo to focus on music, media, technology and policy issues for songwriters, composers and performers from all genres
Buffalo, NY – Future of Music Coalition is proud to partner with the American Federation of Musicians Local 92, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and other community groups to bring the “What’s The Future for Musicians?” seminar to Buffalo. The event takes place in Livingston Hall inside Kleinhans Music Hall on Wednesday, April 2, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Future of Music Coalition is a national non-profit that deals with issues at the intersection of music, technology, policy and law. FMC helps musicians understand these tricky issues in order to make better-informed decisions regarding their art and livelihood.
The daylong Buffalo event will educate musicians about such topical issues as promotion and distribution, access to media outlets such as radio, compensation in the digital age and the importance of open internet structures. A representative from FMC’s Health Insurance Navigation Tool (HINT) will also be on hand to offer New York State musicians free consultations about their health insurance options. Artists from all genres — including classical, jazz, rock, folk and hip-hop — are welcome.
The seminar will be guided by a core group of presenters who have a wide range of expertise in the music, performance, technology, policy, copyright and law space. Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with peer-experts in breakout sessions and roundtable discussions.
Anyone interested in attending should RSVP at http://www.futureofmusic.org/events/newyork08/rsvp.cfm or call AFM Local 92 at 716-842-6466.
