| Basskin, David | David | Basskin | | David Basskin, B.A., LL.B., LL.M., M.B.A., has led CMRRA since 1989. Following his training as a lawyer, Mr. Basskin worked in film production and television broadcasting before joining CMRRA, Canada's largest music licensing agency. On behalf of the majority of music publishers and rights owners doing business in Canada, Founded in 1975, CMRRA licenses the reproduction and distribution of music on CD, via the Internet and other media, including broadcasting. CMRRA also collects the private copying levy on blank Cds for its clients. As President and CEO of CMRRA, Mr. Basskin oversees the strategic development of the Agency and its relations with its clients, and directs the negotiation of major industry agreements and conduct of tariff hearings before the Copyright Board of Canada, and also serves as Legal Counsel to the Canadian Music Publishers Association. A lifelong resident of Toronto, Mr. Basskin is also the host of "Stolen Moments", a weekly program on JAZZ.FM91, Canada's Premier Jazz Station. | View |
