Last week, we told you about a KILLER show in NYC paying tribute to the legendary Memphis rock-pop-soul act Big Star. The band’s leader, Alex Chilton, passed away last March of a heart attack. He didn’t have health insurance at the time.
On Saturday, March 26 an incredible crew of artists will come together for Big Star’s Third Live. The show is a benefit for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and proceeds from poster sales (signed and unsigned) go to FMC’s Health Insurance Navigation Tool (HINT) — a FREE service for musicians seeking to learn more about their health insurance options.
Check out this incredible lineup:
Jody Stephens, Mike Mills, Mitch Easter, Will Rigby, Chris Stamey
Strings & Horns:
Lost in the Trees
Norman Blake, Michael Stipe, Matthew Sweet, Django Haskins, Bret Harris, Mike Mills, Tift Merrit, Ira Kaplan
Big Star Third Live
Mason Hall at Baruch Performing Arts Center

Since Chilton’s passing, there have been a number of benefit shows and tribute nights involving the remaining members of Big Star, and a cavalcade of musical friends. Saturday’s show is looking like the biggest yet.
