Taking the Pulse on Health Care Reform & Musicians
You probably noticed that health care reform was passed by the House of Representatives yesterday, which sends the legislation to the President's desk and, following a bit of procedural maneuvering in the Senate, clears the bill to become law.
FMC will be weighing in on how the legislation might impact musicians in a Billboard Op-Ed set to run on Friday. We'll let you know when the link is live.
Here at FMC, we welcome all efforts to get more musicians covered. But we also recognize that this isn't gonna be a reality over night. In the meantime, we want to know how many musicians currently have health insurance, and if they don't, what are the barriers to obtaining coverage?
Our "Taking the Pulse" survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and helps us get a clearer picture of the health insurance landscape for musicians. By answering a few simple questions, you help us to be better advocates for artists.
And remember, if you're a musician, you should check out our Health Insurance Navigation Tool (HINT), which provides free, confidential information to musicians curious to learn more about their options. The website has a ton of information, and you can also schedule an appointment to get a call from one of our health insurance experts, who also happen to be musicians.
