With FMC's 2009 Policy Summit just around the corner (Georgetown University in DC, Oct. 4-6), we figured it's a great time to get you better acquainted with some of the awesome speakers we have lined up for this year's event.
First up is Ian Rogers of Topspin Media -- a digital visionary who's helping to shape the future of music. With FMC's 2009 Policy Summit just around the corner (Georgetown University in DC, Oct. 4-6), we figured it's a great time to get you better acquainted with some of the awesome speakers we have lined up for this year's event.
Ian is no stranger to the world of digital content -- as the General Manager for Yahoo! Music, Ian oversaw the development of Music.Yahoo.com, as well as Launchcast Radio and the Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription service. Ian also earned major cred as the President of New Media for the Beastie Boys' record label Grand Royal, which led to him being called the "fourth Beastie" due to his tight relationship with the trio.
Currently, Ian is the Chief Executive Officer of Topspin Media -- a technology-focused direct-to-fan marketing, management and distribution platform that helps established artists manage their catalogues, connect with fans and generate demand for their music. Topspin recently assisted Brian Eno and David Byrne in self-releasing their critically acclaimed album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.
Suffice it to say, we're thrilled to have Ian at Policy Summit 2009. There are a lot of digital music soothsayers out there, but Ian is one of the folks who is actually making a go of building working models for the future. You won't want to miss what he has to say about where we've been and where we might be heading.
